Abstract

We present a novel spectroscopic method for rapid detection and quantification of microplastics in marine water samples. The technique combines Raman spectroscopy with machine learning algorithms to achieve 98% accuracy in identifying polymer types. Field tests conducted across 12 coastal locations demonstrated the method can process samples in under 5 minutes, compared to several hours for conventional approaches. This advancement enables real-time monitoring of microplastic pollution in marine ecosystems.
